About us — The Shooting Box Day Nursery

The Shooting Box Day Nursery has been operating for more than 30 years, with the current owners taking over in 1989, and extending both the Opening Hours and the Nursery Size, enablling us to cater for babies as well as young children.
The Nursery is situated in a large converted house giving a lovely, homely feel. We have Cromers Woods directly behind us, enabling us to take the Children and Babies for regular walks, discovering and learning whilst having fun.

Large Play Room - 2 yrs to 5 yrs

This is the largest room in the nursery which is set up to enable the children to develop, learn and have fun safely, both with adult support and with their friends.
There are lots of opportunities for various activities, including space to dance as well as small enclosed spaces for reading, and the home corner.
The children have their main meals with the staff in this room.

Second Play Room - 2 yrs to 5 yrs

Our secondary play room leads directly onto the garden.
In this room the children can explore and have fun with, mark making tools, messy play and have the opportunity to be within a smaller group of their peers.

Baby Unit - 3 months to 2 yrs

A separate baby unit is located upstairs in the nursery, a maximum of 6 babies per day with the care of 2 of our fully qualified staff members.
Alongside the baby play room, we also facilitate a cot room with 6 cots and a baby changing room next door.

Garden

Our recently renovated garden is the focal point of our nursery, all ages enjoy specific areas of the garden, including a wonderful new climbing frame, large sand pit and our very own vegetable patch.
Weather dependant, we aim to get the children outside every day, either in the garden or on a walk in Cromer's Wood situated directly behind the nursery.
